Boss Hm 2 Vst Plugin
Vst plugin fb 3100. The Amplitude Metal Distortion 2 is based on the HM-2. That's the first one I can think of. The MT-2 is the more commonly modeled one. But you know I have never compared the sims of those to the original.

Since there are hardware clones out on the market based on the real HM-2 pedal, I thought it made sense to create one of my own. It´s simpler than BUZZ Hm-2 in that it has only two controls: A Level knob and a Power switch.
It is comprised of 2 plugins that both attempts to emulate the Boss HM-2 pedal.

I recently managed to buy a genuine HM-2 pedal which to my surprise showed me that my earlier attempts may not have been so close soundwise as I previously thought.
So, I had to rethink and push myself even further in my quest to truly approach the Buzzsaw sound.
If you have downloaded the Buzz Helvetes Metal HM-2 in previous post, please ditch them and download the new version as this one comes EXTREMELY Close (I kid you not!).
You will NOT find another free and as easy way to reach that early 90:ies Swedish deathmetal sound!
In this post I´ve also included sound-files where you can hear a comparison between the real deal and Buzz Helvetes Metal HM-2.
The other post is called 'Instant Buzzsaw' which does what its name says. Together with a suitable amp and cab it will give you a Buzzsaw-sound with the turn of a knob.

I used plugin alliance's metal2 plugin but truth is you can get a similar sound without it, just scoop the mids but still retain some upper mids in there to give it some meat. The HM2 was usually used with everything to the max going into a clean channel of an amp.
With podfarm you can pretty much play around until you get a decent sound but the upper mids will always be fizzly and sizzly. You can sculpt out a lot with an eq with really tight band curves. And besides in metal a lot of the guitar sound comes from the bass as well, when they play together it just creates a huge sound. So don't be afraid to distort the bass guitar.
One thing I would do is invest in something like Redwirez Impulses or some similar product, as that will give you the option to choose from a wide selection of mics and cabinets and quite frankly they sound better to my ears than the stock cab emulations from podfarm, amplitube, th3 or any other guitar amp plugin out there. You just bypass the cab in the amp plugin and use a REdwirez cab impulse for the cabinets.
There are a ton of things you can do though, like quad track guitars with different settings, use less gain, yep you don't need it cranked up especially if you use an amp sim, use multiple mics on cabinets to get a fuller and bigger sound etc. etc. etc.
